Grenoble, June 2008 GOLFECH NPP\TX-CLE\Fuel preparation - RONZANI Franck 29 4. Figures 5. Conclusion History In 2001, EDF decided to install a new system. These improvements were : - To increase safety (by putting new sensors) - To handle 8 fuel assemblies per hour (Today it is 5/h. => save 14h/activity => 28h/outage) - To reduce the cost of the service (Confidential) 1. Conclusion Objectives for EDF EDF has decided to install « The Supervisor » in the PMC system between 2005 – 2012, in order to make these improvements. This new system will be used in 1300 MW nuclear power plants in France (20 units) and perhaps in the EPR units. 1. Presentation of system 2. Schedule of the project 3. "The Supervisor"

Conclusion To improve availability, safety, service and cost, EDF decided to install a new system to change nuclear fuel. To do this, in 20 units (1300MW) of nuclear plants and for 350 operators, we need : - 12 years - 47 EDF people to do the study - 2 firms to do the project This investment by EDF is a part of the sustainable development for nuclear energy
