“Am I in the right place?”
If your schedule says Room____ Mrs. Helfer, then you are in the right place

Assigned Seats?????? When you came in the classroom, you were given an index card with a number and a colored dot, please write your name on your card and match it up to a seat. This will be your assigned seat for the year.

What supplies do I need???? You will need 2 composition notebooks, 1 spiral notebook, No.2 pencils, blue or black ink pens, highlighters, index cards, and sticky notes

Rules Arrive on time with all materials. Mare sure cellphone is on silent. NO TEXTING Be courteous to others. Respect others by treating them the way that you would want to be treated. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. When you are given class time to work on an assignment, please use that time to do that assignment, not write notes, do homework for another class, etc. Only pack up at the end of class when you are instructed to do so by the teacher. Remain in your desk until you are dismissed by the teacher.

Constructively critique your own and other’s writing Apply punctuation and grammar Gain comprehension skills by identifying the characters, plot, main idea and supporting details of a story, as well as discuss cause and effect, author’s purpose, identify inferences and compare and contrast story elements Develop a love of reading by reading various genres and story types

Grading Guidelines The grading policy for St. Tammany Parish Schools is: A B 85-92 C 75-84 D 67-74 F 66 and below 80% of your grade each quarter will be based on the points accumulated in each quarter. The nine weeks exam will count 20% of our nine weeks grade.

Report Cards and Progress Reports
In the middle of each nine-week period, progress reports are given to all students in all subjects. Report cards are issued to all students on the THURSDAY following the end of each nine-week period. Progress Reports will be sent home for every student midway through each 9 week period.

“Who is my teacher?” I grew up in Ocala, Florida-a small rural town
I am a Disney Fanatic- I love anything Disney and I am always planning my next trip to Walt Disney World I have three boys: Alen (14), Jason (8), and Nathan (5) My husband was in the Navy for twenty years and we have lived in Florida, Texas, Japan, and Mississippi before retiring in Louisiana I love to read and I will read just about anything. My favorite book is The Outsiders-we will read it this year. Please share your favorite book with my because I am always looking for something to read and love trying new books (the best way to learn about new books is by recommendations from others).

I expect each child to do well academically. I expect you to do your best in my class I care about each and everyone of you I will listen to your ideas I will help when you do not understand I will tell you when you do good things I will treat you all fairly I will treat you with respect
