Motherhood/ mother is not extremely thin as it was not good for bearing children Perfect family, perfect scenario 4 kids = 1000 Reichsmarks from government Young girl holding doll = representation motherhood Young boy playing with the earth = representation of working Fruits and flowers represent and healthy and prosperous lifestyle. Fruitful scenario, healthy and beneficial.

4 Before Nazi Germany In the 1920’s women started to be treated as equals to men Women over 20 were aloud to vote Women were aloud to work, and had equal salaries to men They were able to take part in activities and dress freely

5 During Nazi Germany Nazis believed women should be good mothers, and take care of husbands In Nazi Germany Women should: Stay healthy Learn house craft Marry and help husbands to become strong workers Have children Concentrate on domestic matters and not to become involved in work or politics Stay home Laws and policies towards women were driven by the 3 K’s – Kinder, Kurche and Kirche = Children, kitchen and church

6 Laws Passed Nazis introduced several laws in 1933:
Law for encouragement of marriage Women were not allowed to work Women were discouraged/banned from doing anything that harm their chances of having children The Motherhood Cross was created The Lebensborn Program was introduced

7 Hitler Hitler thought these policies were fair
In a speech he made in 1935 he said “Both sexes have their rights, their tasks” Some women remained opposed to Hitler’s views
