Incomplete sentences Missing a subject or a predicate Holly. Rode a bike to the park. My brother and my sister.

4 How Do We Fix Fragments? Ask yourself, “Is this a complete sentence?”
Think, “What’s missing?” Add a subject (who or what) or a predicate (what the subject is doing). Holly___________________________________. _____________________ rode a bike to the park. My brother and my sister ___________________.

5 Practice in a Small Group!
Take turns forming complete sentences from the fragments. Tammy and Brian before school each day completes homework Monique and her mother it is noisy inside the cafeteria love to read and write the puppy gets into trouble the best book I’ve ever read

6 Independent Practice Fragment Cards Directions:
Draw a card. Lay the card face up in the middle of the group and read it aloud. 2. Each student will turn the fragment into a complete sentence in his or her writer’s notebook. 3. If the card is already a complete sentence, read the card aloud but don’t write anything. 4. It is the next student’s turn.
