Ex: Assume ULC used the Borda Method to determine its president. The table provides you with the preference ballots cast in the election where 1st place earns 4 points…4th place earns 1 point. Who is the winner of the election? Ann (A), Ben (B), Carmin (C), Doreen (D) Hint: Create a new table with the Point Values # Ballots
14
Ann Won! Candidates 1st x 4pts 2nd x 3 pts 3rd x 2 pts 4th x 1 pt
Total A 10(4) = 40 12(3) = 36 6(2) = 12 5(1) = 5 93 B 9(4) = 36 6(3) = 48 15(2)= 30 3(1) = 3 87 C 11(4) = 44 7(3)= 21 3(2) = 6 12(1) = 12 83 D 3(4) = 12 8(3) = 24 9(2) = 18 13(1) = 13 67 Ann Won!
