10 Sargon’s Akkadian Empire
2330 BCE Sargon I – first to create a permanent army Conquered all of Sumer and northern Mesopotamia. Akkadian was the world’s first empire.

Used new weapons. (movable towers battering rams) Known for their bas-relief sculptures. Palaces were built on tall mounds (looked up to leaders)

Capital city – back to Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar II. Known for the Hanging Gardens. Skilled in math and astronomy . Invented the sundial. Inner city walls with towers for archers.
