Part of the Fertile Crescent, which stretches in a crescent from the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf (Iraq) (p. 29) B. Tigris and Euphrates 1. Source of life for peoples of Mesopotamia a. transportation b. silt c. water 2. Floods (spring) brought good topsoil (silt), but sometimes brought death and destruction
