CT interpretation As was suspected radiographically, there is a poorly mineralized first carpal bone, spanning defects in the distal, palmar aspect of the second carpal bone and the proximal aspect of MC2. Adjacent to this is a large amount of new bone formation that extends palmarly and axially from the second carpal bone. This extends distally, along the medial, palmar aspect of MC3, forming an abrupt axial margin along the medial aspect of the inferior check ligament. A separate segment of mineral attenuation is noted just dorsal to the flexor carpi radialis, extending from the palmar, distal aspect of the radiocarpal bone, and terminating at the level of the second carpal bone. The medullary cavity of MC2 is sclerotic proximally. The fat/muscle bundles of the suspensory ligament are mildly, palmarly displaced just distal to the origin of the suspensory ligament, suggestive of thickening of the dorsal ligamentous tissues.
