2 What is a fragment? It is part of a sentence that is punctuated as if it were a complete sentence

3 Fragments with missing parts
Some sentences are missing a subject or a predicate Staring at the back of the house. The man angered by the reaction. Missing subject I was staring at the back of the house. Missing predicate The man was angered by the reaction.

4 Subordinate Clauses as Fragments
Fragments often occur because a subordinate clause is mistaken for a complete sentence Although he is better known for Earl Gray Tea. Must have something after the clause. Although he is better known for Earl Gray Tea, many still think he is great. Subordinating Clause

5 Prepositional Phrases
One or more prepositional phrases put together cannot be a sentence After supper in the alley. These are two prepositional phrases put together which creates a fragment We played football after supper in the alley.
