Getting to Know You Activity
Talk with your partner for 3 minutes Find out about their interests, family, likes/dislikes Write a nonsense sentence using the letters of their name. Start each word with a letter from their name. Example: Koalas eat ink toner habitually.

Student Handbook as Informational Text Class Assignment Each group will use the materials given to create a visual aid to help them in sharing out the information they learned from the text Choose jobs within your group and be sure that everyone knows what is expected of them.

Each member of the group will need a highlighter and you should all read the text and then discuss what you have read. Make an attractive visual aid that highlights the main points to reach your audience ALL work will be posted in the hallways for everyone to see! Be sure your group names are on the back of the work

Handout literary terms yellow pages – keep in the Reference Section of your class binder Vocabulary Lesson #1 – Literary Terms Read directions together and answer the first few as a class…what is not finished in class is considered homework.

Projects for the ceiling tiles (or wall tiles) of Literary Terms Work with partner on your tile – must choose a literary term and then sign up to do that word for your class. The best tiles that demonstrate artistic quality and a strong visual demonstration of the term will be chosen for our classroom ceiling! All Ceiling Tile Projects will be scored with a rubric Be sure the term is very prominent, with the definition possibly hidden somewhere on the tile
