Note: Religion CAN BE Useless! (Ex: Mark Walhberg. Devout Catholic, but starred in a movie about pornography, w/ full nudity, and much ungodliness) James 1:26-27, “ If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” Romans 10:1-3

Paul (Acts 22:3-4) A lost religious zealot Cornelius (Acts 10:1-2,22) A Moral man, lost in sin Rich Young Ruler (Matt. 19:16-22) Lacking in complete devotion to Jesus Pharisees (Luke 18:9-14) Deceived in self-righteous hypocrisy Paul (Zeal must be applied in the right direction) (Philippians 3:4-8) Cornelius (morality must be combined with obedience! (Acts 10:34-35, 43, 48) Ruler (Remedy obeying God’s command for complete devotion (Matthew 22:37) Pharisees (must humble ourselves) (James 4:6-10)

Conclusion You too can be religious and lost! To be saved, we must have: zeal, morality, full obedience and humility That obedience must be rendered to Christ (Acts 4:12), “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
