4 Text “Welcome” to

5 Crown Him With Many Crowns

6 Crown Him with many crowns The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heavenly anthem drowns All music but its own

7 And hail Him as thy matchless King
Awake my soul and sing Of Him who died for thee And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity

8 Crown Him the Lord of Life Who triumphed o'er the grave
Who rose victorious to the strife For those He came to save

9 Who died and rose on high Who died eternal life to bring
His glories now we sing Who died and rose on high Who died eternal life to bring And lives that death may die

10 Crown Him the Lord of peace Whose pow'r a scepter sways
From pole to pole That wars may cease And all be prayer and praise

11 His reign shall know no end And round His pierced feet
Fair flowers of paradise extend Their fragrance ever sweet

12 Crown Him the Lord of Love Behold His hands and side
Those wounds yet visible above In beauty glorified

13 For Thou hast died for me Thy praise and glory shall not fail
All hail Redeemer hail For Thou hast died for me Thy praise and glory shall not fail Throughout eternity

14 Victory in Jesus CCLI #606984

15 How a Savior came from Glory How He gave His life on Calvary
I heard an old old story How a Savior came from Glory How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me

16 I heard about His groaning Of His precious blood’s atoning
Then I repented of my sin And won the victory

17 He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood
O victory in Jesus My Savior forever He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood

18 He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood

19 I heard about His healing Of His cleansing power revealing
How He made the lame To walk again And caused the blind to see

20 And then I cried “Dear Jesus Come and heal my broken spirit”
And somehow Jesus Came and brought To me the victory

21 He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood
O victory in Jesus My Savior forever He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood

22 He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood

23 He has built for me in glory
I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory And I heard about The streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea

24 About the angels singing And the old redemption story
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there The song of victory

25 He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood
O victory in Jesus My Savior forever He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood

26 He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood

37 Colossians 2:8–15 (NASB) See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

38 Colossians 2:8–15 (NASB) 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;

39 Colossians 2:8–15 (NASB) 12having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him,

40 Colossians 2:8–15 (NASB) having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities,

41 Colossians 2:8–15 (NASB) He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

42 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
To enjoy the freedom that comes through Christ alone: 1) we must continually watch out for spiritual systems that undermine the gospel, 2) we must understand the supernatural change that comes through our union with Christ, and 3) we must appreciate the extent of our freedom.

43 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
1. We must continually watch out for spiritual systems that undermine the gospel (8).

44 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
see to it – the second command in Colossians, meaning “look carefully” or “watch out!”

45 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
takes you captive – “to be carried off as plunder or as a slave”

46 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
philosophy – any system of thinking that does not have Christ as its source, substance, and goal

47 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
“The philosophy is the product of mere human speculation and does not put its adherents in touch with divine truth.” (Douglass Moo, 187).

48 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
How can we identify bankrupt and enslaving philosophies?

49 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
We look at what they are “according to” (8).

50 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
The false teachers are proclaiming a doctrine and demanding practices that do not depend on Christ. . .Christ is the One in whom God exclusively is to be found, the One through whom the world was created and through whom it is redeemed, and the One who has decisively defeated all the hostile powers” (Douglass Moo, 193).

51 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
If the system begins with, continues with, or concludes with something less than Christ, it will never get you to Christ.

52 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
2. We must understand the supernatural change that comes through our union with Christ (9–13).

53 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
God the Son assumed what we are to deliver us from what we were – to complete us (10).

54 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
If we are in Christ in Whom all the fullness of deity dwells, why would we venerate angels or pray to saints or anything or anyone other than Christ?

55 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Paul says we have already been circumcised with the circumcision that matters.

56 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. (Deut 10:16)

57 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
He removes me from an existence under the dominion of sin in my body of flesh (11) and places me in Christ who assumed a body of flesh (1:22) to break the power of sin by living a sinless life for me.

58 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God. (Romans 2:28)

59 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
OT circumcision does not need to be replaced or continued; we have an infinitely better and superior circumcision, the circumcision of Christ which comes through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead (13).

60 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Has Paul written an entire letter to tell us Christ is enough as long as you get baptized? Well, yes and no. Water baptism does not save us, but it is through Jesus’ baptism, that is His death, burial, and resurrection that God does save us.

61 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (Mark 10:38)

62 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Baptism is important because it represents not only what is being believed but what happened at the moment of belief; we were united with Christ in His baptism – in His death, burial, and resurrection.

63 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
There is no greater captivity than spiritual death, and Christ has freed us by making us alive in Himself.

64 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
3. We must appreciate the extent of our freedom (13b–15).

65 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
All the sins that stood between us and God, God has forgiven -- all (13) of them.

66 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
The charges that should have entered with us into God’s holy court room were permanently erased in the blood of God’s perfect and spotless Lamb.

67 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
“In causing him to be nailed to the cross, God has provided for the full cancellation of the debt of obedience that we incurred. Christ took upon Himself the penalty that we were under because of our disobedience, and his death fully satisfied God’s necessary demand for due punishment of that disobedience” (Moo, 212).

68 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Don’t put back on the shackles that Christ has removed.

69 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
Every power and authority that wants to lead you away from Christ has been exposed for what it is through Christ is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him. (1 Peter 3:22)

70 Christ is Enough for Our Freedom
If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. (John 8:36)

161 Response

162 All I Have is Christ

163 I once was lost in darkest night  Yet thought I knew the way  The sin that promised joy and life  Had led me to the grave

164 I had no hope that You would own  A rebel to Your will  And if You had not loved me first  I would refuse You still

165 But as I ran my hell-bound race Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state And led me to the cross

166 And I beheld God’s love displayed You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me Now all I know is grace

167 Hallelujah! All I have is Christ Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

168 Now Lord I would be Yours alone And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands Could never come from me

169 O Father use my ransomed life And let my song forever be
In any way You choose And let my song forever be My only boast is You

170 Hallelujah! All I have is Christ Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
