Project Aims
Multidisciplinary team approach agreed key improvements that will:
Reduce unnecessary drug treatment
Help carers to identify triggers and manage behaviour without need for antipsychotic drugs
Improve quality of life for patients

Training modules for care home staff on challenging behaviour
Being rolled out across BCUHB from 2013
2. Tool to help identify, document and resolve challenging behaviour
3. Communication of treatment & review plan from secondary care
Circulated to OPMH consultants for use across BCUHB
4. GP guidelines &education to support & communicate patient review
Baseline data from two pilot General Practices
Several patients identified from GP were not known / open to Mental Health services.
Data after initial review demonstrated 30% reduction in patients on antipsychotic.
