Flanders, Belgium became the center of trade for Northern Europe It was known for its woolen cloth. By 1100 Flanders and Venice were trading goods regularly.

10 Feudalism To encourage this trade, the Count of Champagne began holding trade fairs Northern Eur. Merchants traded furs, tin, honey, and wool for cloth and swords from North Italy. They traded for sugar, silk and spices from Asia.
