Is about real people, events, or ideas
Gives info from the author’s perspective, which is the way the author sees things.
The author’s attitude or feelings
about a topic is called the tone.

To persuade – attempt to manipulate the reader’s opinion
To inform
To entertain

4. Types of Nonfiction
Biography-person’s life story, told by someone else
Autobiography-person’s life story, told by the author himself
Letter-written message from one person to another, to share information, thoughts, or
feelings

Essay-brief written work that tells the author’s opinion about something
Informational text-written work that gives information, such as a textbook, job application, or instruction manual
