2. What is the Injury-Free NC Academy?
The 2017 Injury-Free NC Academy is pleased to announce a focus on shared risk and protective factors to prevent violence in North Carolina
All learning activities during this academy will focus on developing key public health skills in:
Prevention and program planning
Implementation of evidenced-based or evidence-informed strategies to reduce risk and strengthen protective factors
Finding and using data in NC and in your local community
Collective impact
Developing, implementing and sustaining effective programs
Measuring success with program evaluation
Mobilizing and sustaining a community coalition
Preparing for grant opportunities and leveraging funds

3. Who Should Apply?
North Carolina county, district, region, community group, or a coalition
Strong focus on the prevention of sexual or domestic violence, sexual abuse, child maltreatment, or suicide
Those planning to, or wanting to adopt a relevant, evidence based strategy for your community to collectively address shared risk and protective factors.
Have a committed, core team of three to six members with an identified lead representative

5. Timeline February 14th Applications due
Around February 21st Teams are notified if they have been accepted
March 21st – 22nd Academy In-Person Session One in Chapel Hill, NC
End of March – End of July, Four month work in communities
July 25th – 26th Academy in-person Session Two in Chapel Hill, NC
