Communication Even a simple conversation between friends involves:
encoding our intentions into words, transmitting them through speech, receiving them through thoughtful listening, then decoding the intent of the speaker.

Components of a communication system
Source – the origin of the communication Encoder- Preparing the message in a form in which it can be sent Transmitter- Sending the message Receiver- Accepts the transmitted message Decoder- Changing the message into a form in which a person can understand it Destination – the receiver of the communication

Sub-processes of a communication system
Let's look at how am/fm radio works: Source: a DJ is talking at one end Encoder: the microphone takes the sound of the DJ or the music and turns it into an electric signal Transmitter: the electric signal is sent as a radio wave Receiver: the antenna in the radio in your house picks up the radio wave from the station Decoder: your radio takes the radio signal and turns it back into sound waves Destination: you hear the radio broadcast
