2 Enzymes are… Proteins -made of amino acids -shape is important!

4 Enzymes are… 3. Specific -shape “fits” with a specific substrate

5 Enzymes are… 4. Reusable -after a chemical reaction, they can be used again

Hydrogen peroxide) Active site- where the enzyme and substrate fit together Enzyme- provides a place for the chemical reaction and therefore lowers the activation energy (Ex. Catalase) Enzyme-Substrate Complex *Enzyme can be reused!! Because it does not change
