A leader who pays careful attention to the human need for satisfying relationships, in the hope that a comfortable, friendly organization will achieve the best results
Task-Oriented
A leader who is primarily concerned with getting the job done in the most efficient manner, and will therefore arrange a working conditions to minimize interference by the human element

Leader makes decisions without reference to anyone else
Staff have a high degree of dependency on the leader
Leader can de-motivate and alienate staff
May be valuable in some types of business where decisions need to be made quickly and decisively

4. Types of Leadership Paternalistic Leader acts as a “father figure”
Makes decision but may consult
Believes in the need to support staff

Encourages decision making from different perspective
Leadership may be emphasised throughout the organization
Consultative – consulting before decisions are made
Persuasive – leader takes decision and seeks to persuade others that the decision is correct

Improves the sharing of ideas and experiences within the business

Can be highly motivational, as people have control over their working life
