2. Soliloquy
A long speech expressing the thoughts of a character alone on stage

3. Monologue
A speech given by one character in a play, story, or poem

4. Aside
A short speech delivered by an actor in a play that is directed to the audience and is presumed to be inaudible to the other actors

5. Imagery
The descriptive or figurative language used in literature to create word pictures for the reader

6. Allusion
A reference to a well-known person, place, event, literary work, or work of art

7. Extended Metaphor
A comparison for several lines or for an entire poem where a writer speaks or writes of a subject as though it were something else
