How should we measure pleasure?
All hedonistic utilitarians want to find the action with the most pleasurable consequences. So we need a way to measure the pleasure that results from any action. Bentham Mill Quantitative – only measures the AMOUNT of pleasure Qualitative – measures the TYPE as well as the amount Uses the hedonic calculus/utility calculus Uses higher and lower pleasures

Rule Utilitarianism One of the problems with Act Utilitarianism was that it took too long to calculate (forever!) Mill wanted a way to speed up the decision-making. So he devised Rule Utilitarianism.
