Figure S1. Examples of minimal and sub-minimal dynamic images. Each minimal dynamic image (“Minimal configuration”) is shown next to its temporal sub-minimal versions (left), and its spatial sub-minimal version (below). The number represents the percentage of correct recognition responses for the action denoted below each minimal configuration. Tags for similar actions were considered correct as well (e.g., Playing Baseball was considered similar to Playing Tennis). In the presented minimal images both the human object and the action category were recognized. In the presented sub-minimal image the actions were not recognized. The person object was partially recognized in C and D (see Fig. 3), and was not recognized in either A or B. See Supplementary file ‘figS1.ppsx’ for an animated version.
