8 How were Muslims viewed by many non-Muslim Americans after the attacks on September 11th?
Obviously not all Muslims are terrorists. There are over 2 billion Muslims in the world.

9 Japanese-Americans After the attack on Pearl Harbor there is a hostile response against Japanese-Americans. Mainstream America sees Japanese-Americans as traitors and un-American. President Franklin D. Roosevelt passes Executive Order 9066. Executive Order 9066: The military can suspend (take away) the constitutional rights of anyone who is seen as a threat to national security. The same kind of prejudice happens after Pearl Harbor.

10 Internment Camps 120,000 Japanese were taken to internment camps. 62% of those put into internment camps were born in the U.S. Some had even fought for the U.S. in WWI. Internment is the confining large groups of people into an area without trial. Interment camps are the locations that the Japanese-Americans were confined to. There is a distinction between internment, which is being confined usually for preventive or political reasons, and imprisonment, which is being closely confined as a punishment for crime. 1100 German Americans were arrested. 3200 Italian Americans were arrested.

15 In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill that gave Japanese-Americans who were put into internment camps during WWII and still alive $20,000 and a signed apology from the president.

Despite the practices of the U.S. government more than 33,000 Japanese-Americans served on the Allied side during WWII. Specifically, they were interpreters. They also fought in the war, but they were not allowed to fight in the Pacific Theatre.
