Information for Parents……
This term we will be using an interactive Homework grid. Each grid will take a month to complete. Remember there are four activities on the badge which must be completed. Pupils and parents may select as many of the other activities over the four week period as they like. We do recommend a minimum of two activities per week. Please date the activity when completed. All work should be returned to school each Monday. Have fun leading your learning!

Write up a ‘mock’ interview with an MSP. Date: Ask a member of Management to talk about what happens at a Parent Council meeting and how this is democracy. Date: Discuss the key members of the Scottish parliament and what they do. Date: In what way is democracy alive and kicking in Buckstone Prinmary School? Carry out some research and present your findings Date: Week 1 Create a timeline illustrating democracy in Scotland. Date: Week 2 Research the history behind the Scottish Parliament and share your findings Date: Are there any strange or ancient laws that are still in existence in the UK today? Should we still have them? Date: Construct the Scottish Parliament or another European Parliament using Lego or junk modelling Date: Architect for the Day! Design a new Scottish Parliament building. Date: Write a short persuasive letter to your local MP asking for more litter bins in public places. Date: Week 3 Present arguments For and Against Scottish Independence Date: Week 4 Design a logo and a write a manifesto for a new political party Date: You are the Chancellor of the Exchequer with a budget of £100 million. Decide and justify which projects will be funded. Date: Become familiar with the stages a bill goes through in the Parliament and make a flowchart illustrating this Date: Find out how much an MSP gets paid and create a spreadsheet detailing their expenses. Date: Design and create a Scottish Parliament board game with instructions and game cards. Date: Shared Learning at P7 Use the design of Scottish Parliament buildings as inspiration to create a stained glass window Date: Research the Sufragettes and their significance in today’s society and make a Fact File. Date: Write the obituary for the First First Minister of the Scottish Parliament. Date: The 4 badge activities must be completed in order starting with Week 1 Parent and child select as many of the other 15 activities over the 4 week period as they wish.
