To Do: Look up a news articles of one of the crimes against people. Read through the article and complete the following steps. Summarize the article… I want to know what happened! Do you think it is a felony or misdemeanor? What type of crime was it (i.e. Murder? Manslaughter? Assault/Battery? Domestic Violence? Child Abuse/Neglect? Kidnapping? Etc.) Has the crime gone to court? If yes, has a decision been made and what was the decision? If no, what do you think the verdict should be?

While driving 85 MPH in a 65 MPH zone, Mitchell Perry accidently struck and killed a child who was crossing the street. Did Mitchel commit second-degree murder? What’s your verdict?

Negatively Influenced?
When Carman Deck appeared before jury to be sentenced after a murder conviction, he was in chains and shackles. The jury sentenced him to death. Deck later appealed his sentence, arguing that the chains and shackles had negatively influenced the jury.
