to live out the promise of Christ’s forgiveness to become overcomers (Rev. 2:7, etc.) to prove righteousness over wickedness to disciple and strengthen other believers in the church to bear witness of truth against the world to wait for the hope of glory.

10 But the struggle itself is a sign
We are carried by the Spirit at the beginning (born “from above” or “again”) Then the Spirit calls us to be more dependent on the Word. (as disciples) And then the challenges return (we fight the good fight of the faith with the armor of God) But the struggle itself is a sign of God’s Spirit upon us and of how we are growing in the Christian life.
