9 How Students Join a Test Session
After you select the tests and start a session, a Session ID will be generated. You will need to provide the session ID to students in order for them to begin a test. The page displays a Test Session ID button in the upper right corner of the window. This ID must be given to students for them to enter a test session. Please note that the Test Session ID shown above is for the practice site. If this was an operational test administration, the first node of the Test Session ID would be ‘AIR’. Students will also need to enter their first name, as it has been entered into AIRWays, and their unique Student ID. Test Tickets can be printed and provided to students to ensure they have the correct information. For more information about Test Tickets, see the AIRWays User Guide. You can also view the Student and User Management System training module for more information. Next, we will discuss how to look up students in the Test Administration site if they need help logging in.

10 How to Look Up Students Search for student details by using the Student Lookup option in the banner A student may need help logging in to the Student Test Administration site during a test session. For example, if a student enters a nickname or a different name than what is in the Student and User Management system, they will not be able to log in. You can look up a student to retrieve their student details in order to view exactly how the student’s name and student ID is saved in the Student and User Management system. If the student tries to use any alternate information in the Test Administration site they will not be able to log in. The Student Lookup is located at the top of your screen in the banner; it is circled here. When you click the Student Lookup option, the Quick Search tab allows you to type in the student’s ID to get the student’s details in the Test Administration site. If you do not know the student’s ID, the Advanced Search tab, shown, here allows you to search for students using different criteria including their school, grade, first name, and last name. You can also use Advanced Search to find a student’s ID. Once you enter the student information, click Search. Your results will display below the green search fields.

To verify student eligibility for a specific online assessment, please check the Student and User Management System. The student can now log in to the Test Administration site using the information from the Student Details window.

12 How a Student Selects a Test
This is the student’s “Your Tests” page Students select their test Students should notify their test administrator if a test is missing We will now begin a brief discussion about how students log in to the testing site. Once students log in to the Student Test Administration site, they will be presented with a Your Test page where they can select the test(s) available in the session that they are eligible to take. Students click the test name to choose that test. If the student notices a test is missing from the list, they should notify you and click Back to Login. You may need to return to your Test Session window in the Test Administration site to add the test to the session using the Select Tests feature. Clicking the Select Tests button in the upper right on the Test Administration Site will open the Test Selection window that lists the available tests. You should select the test that needs to be added to this test session and click save, then have the student log back in to the Student Test Administration site.

After students have selected their test(s), the Approvals button will become active and show a green check with the number of students waiting for approval in red. This indicates that there are students waiting to be approved to take a test. A student cannot take a test without the teacher’s approval. This Approvals button displays in a red bubble the number of students who are awaiting your approval to begin a test. You can also view a numbered count of students awaiting approval in the banner located under “Students in your Operational Test Session.” Please note that this screen refreshes every 30 seconds and displays any additional students awaiting approval who may have recently joined. If you want to refresh the screen manually, the button located next to the Approvals button with two circling arrows allows you to refresh as often as needed. To approve students for testing, click the Approvals button.

Some settings, such as Permissive Mode, cannot be changed from this window and will need to be updated in the Student & User Management System by a school or district administrator.
