Forms of Energy Definitions Energy is defined as the capacity for activity or the exertion of power.

Light Energy Energy carried by light.
Visible light including the colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. When all the colors combine, we see white light. Sources: - Sun (solar), fire, light bulbs, TV’s computers, phones - Candles - Lamps - Flashlights

Sound Energy Energy carried by sound waves.
Sound waves are caused by vibrations. Sound waves travel through a solid, liquid and gas. Sources: - Vibration, moving molecules - People (talking, laughing) - Animals (Barking, singing) - Instruments (Drums, Trumpet) - Sirens (Police Car)

Heat Energy Energy that is related to the temperature of an object.
“Therm” = Heat Thermal energy transfers from a warmer object to a cooler object. Sources: - Fire, light sources, electricity, sun, friction - Stove/Oven

Electrical Energy It’s energy produced by electrical charges. Sources:
- Batteries, power plants, wall plugs, generators - Static - Lighting

Mechanical Energy Energy that an object has because of it’s motion.
Sources: - Movement, force, gravity - Water in motion (Tides) - Windmills - Bicycles
