Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 By: Taylor Hunner Pd. #2
-On July 24, 1996, the child protective bill was passed by the Senate, and President Clinton signed the FQPA into law on August 3, 1996 What did it do?/It’s Function -mandates a single, health-based standard for all pesticides in all foods; -provides special protections for infants and children; -expends approval of safer pesticides; -creates incentives for the development and maintenance of effective crop protection tools for American farmers; and -requires periodic re-evaluation of pesticide registrations and tolerances to ensure that the scientific data supporting pesticide registrations will remain up to date in the future.

-Put a regulation on what type of pesticides can be used, and who should be allowed to eat the food that pesticides are used on. This Act is regulated at a national level by the Environmental Protection Agency. -Also enacted changes to the Federal Insecticide, fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), as well as the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).
