The library catalog will give you access to hundreds of thousands of books, articles, E-journals, course reserves, videos, sound clips, archives and others, generally for research purposes. These items can be searched up using an author, title, ISBN, subject heading, series, call number and more to make searching easier. There is an option for basic or advanced search and they can be used to find a publication physically at the libraries in the FIU campuses, or accessed online. Searches can be narrowed down based on various filters in the catalog such as library, format, series title, genre, author, subject: topic and more.

12 If a book was printed before March 1, 2018, how could it be useful for the final essay?
While your topic for the final essay has to have occurred in the recent months, a book printed before the occurrence of the event can give you: essential background information relevant to the development of the event, and can give details of similar situations, which could be extremely useful. The main use of books printed in the past is for background information. Books can help provide evidence for the thesis and/or arguments. Books also show examples of similar events, that can help explain how and why your global event happened by using previous cases and comparing them.
