Causes of Atherosclerosis
Unhealthy lifestyle, poor eating choices, and poor exercise or none at all Build up of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls. It is a slow, complex disease that may start in childhood, Develops faster as you age.

Risks of Atherosclerosis
Having unhealthy blood cholesterol levels. High blood pressure (140/90), or for a diabetic, (130/80). Smoking. Having diabetes will increase the risk. Being obese or overweight. Having an unhealthy diet. Old age. Family history, if parents or grandparents had it you’re at risk.

Prevention of Atherosclerosis
Eat a healthy diet Avoid high level of saturated fats in foods Eat small amounts of unsaturated fats Increases HDL levels Eat sterols and stanols Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, cereal, legumes, olive oil, and vegetable oil Lose weight Only if obese or overweight

only consume about 14 units per week Regular exercise cardio

Is Atherosclerosis reversible?
No, but it has happened before. Some doctors believe that it is possible. While atherosclerosis is not reversible, it is possible to stop it in it’s tracks, or greatly slow the progression. Through taking care of your body such as a good diet, exercise, and not smoking.
