What’s the purpose of today’s lesson?
Take three minutes and scan the beginning and end of the short story focusing on who the characters are and what might be happening. Draw conclusions—use what you learn from your reading to make general statements about people, places, events, or ideas. Respond—explore how the people or events in a reading selection make you feel! Synthesize—as you read bring together information and ideas from the text with information and ideas of your own. Determine the main idea—what’s the most important detail? Why?
