What are the basic purposes of government?

There are 3 main purposes of government

The first is to provide public goods and services.

The government pays to create and runs institutions that citizens
would not be able to afford to create or run themselves.

The government pays for these goods and services with tax revenue (money) collected from citizens

The government makes laws to protect the rights of its citizens.
Making laws helps to prevent conflicts and keeps order in society.
