Providing your opinion on a particular topic
Focus on issue of public concern
Central claim or proposition
Claim is based on assumptions
Evidence that a general audience will believe
Addressing audience: ethos-character of speaker, logos-method of reasoning, pathos-appeal to the audiences’ emotions
Select a topic of interest that will encourage response by audience
