Should have scores in front of them Outer circle – strength Inner circle – weakness Dark lines are the middle ground They should look at all four circles and consider: Does one scale consistently have the highest score? Do people tend to agree about your strengths and weaknesses? Did you receive contradictory information? If so, they need to look for trends and make the ultimate decision on which area to focus on.

You will have 15 minutes to review your respective scenarios and prepare your response using one or more of the CCAI dimensions: Emotional Resilience Flexibility/Openness Perceptual Acuity Personal Autonomy Each response should include 3-5 action points. After all groups have completed the exercise we will reform and discuss each group’s action steps.

Scenario 1: You are trying to place several newly arrived refugee women with a new employer. All of the women are practicing Muslims. You have two goals; first to employ the women and second to maintain and cultivate the new employer. First how would you prepare the employer to meet and interview the women? Second assuming the women are hired how would you prepare them for the job? You will have 15 minutes to review your respective scenarios and prepare your response using one or more of the CCAI dimensions: Emotional Resilience Flexibility/Openness Perceptual Acuity Personal Autonomy Each response should include 3-5 action points. Scenario 2: You are providing cultural orientation to a newly arrived Somali family. Part of the orientation is to explain certain practices that are either quite different or unlawful in the United States including FGM and the use of corporal punishment when disciplining children. How would you address these sensitive issues with this family? You will have 15 minutes to review your respective scenarios and prepare your response using one or more of the CCAI dimensions: Emotional Resilience Flexibility/Openness Perceptual Acuity Personal Autonomy Each response should include 3-5 action points. Scenario 3: You are leading an ethnically diverse case work team that is working on a joint project. One team member is a male case worker, who was a high ranking official from a country where women rarely held leadership positions. The man is uncooperative and dismissive of your ideas and leadership. Your project has a tight timeline and it is crucial that the project is finished on time and in a quality manner. How would you address the conflict between you and this man? You will have 15 minutes to review your respective scenarios and prepare your response using one or more of the CCAI dimensions: Emotional Resilience Flexibility/Openness Perceptual Acuity Personal Autonomy Each response should include 3-5 action points. Scenario 4: You are managing an urban farm project for your office. You have one farmer who is being disruptive to neighboring farmers. You know that the disruptive gardener suffers from PTSD but you also know he comes from a cultural background where emotional health problems are stigmatized, causing him to rebuff your suggestions to see an emotional health practitioner. What steps would you take to help this person, while at the same time maintain harmony at the community garden? You will have 15 minutes to review your respective scenarios and prepare your response using one or more of the CCAI dimensions: Emotional Resilience Flexibility/Openness Perceptual Acuity Personal Autonomy Each response should include 3-5 action points.
