2 What is Africana Studies?
Study of Africans & people of African descent in Africa, the Caribbean, North & South America, & Europe Interdisciplinary approach allows students to explore different methodologies & disciplines Teaches students to think analytically and critically about global Black experiences across space and time Helps students to make connections among global, national, and local contexts Prepares students to function effectively in a multicultural society & diverse international environments

3 Africana Minor: 5 Courses
One required course: AFRI 2000 (Introduction to Africana Studies) Plus 4 elective courses from University Curriculum Art, Music, History, English Literature, French, Italian Environmental Design, Geography Anthropology, Linguistics, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work Human Science, Geography Some faculty waive prerequisites for Africana Studies minors
