Superficial – more toward the surface of the body Deep – further away from the surface of the body Distal – located further away from the point of attachment to the body Proximal – located nearer to the point of attachment to the body Adduction – movement of a body part toward the midline of the body Abduction – movement of a body part closer to the midline of the body Eversion – turning the foot outward (abduction of the foot) Inversion – turning the foot inward (adduction of the foot)

Flexion – the motion of bending, or decreasing a joint angle Extension – the motion of straightening, or increasing a joint angle Supine - the body lying horizontally and face up Prone – the body lying horizontally and face down Supination – motion that turns the palm face up Pronation – motion that turns the palm face down
