Jireomen Kimura Jireomen was born April 19, 1897 in Japan, is a Japanese supercentenarian(someone who has lived to and past their 110th birthday), at the age of 115 years and 344 days.

His Life Kimura was born as Kinjiro Miyake on April 19, 1897 in the fishing village of Kamiukawa, the third of six children. After he finished school when he was 14, he worked for local post offices for 45 years before his retirement in 1962 at the age of 65.

Marriage and career In the 1920s, Kimura also worked as a government communications worker in Korea. Upon returning from Korea, he married his neighbor, Yae Kimura ( ) Since his wife's family lacked a male heir, he changed his name to Jireomen Kimura, becoming the ninth member of the family to bear that name.

His family Kimura has 7 children (5 are alive today), 15 grandchildren (14 are alive today), 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

The Guinness World Record
In October 2012, Kimura was presented with a certificate from Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday. The reason for the visitation was Kimura's appearance in the new Guinness World Records book 2013; this was the second year in a row Kimura was recognized as the Oldest living man in the world, as he also appeared in the 2012 edition of the book. Personal Life Kimura is healthy and active. After retiring from the post office, he turned to farming until the age of 90. He wakes up early in the morning and reads newspapers with a magnifying glass. Also, he enjoys speaking to guests and follows live parliamentary debates on television. According to him, small portions of food are the key to a long and healthy life.
