5. WHEN DID GVSU BEGIN RECYCLING?
1990
For every ton of recycled paper, one new tree will be planted.
The university plans to create a 100 tree arboretum.
President Arend Lubbers took up a gold-plated shovel and, with the university recycling committee, planted the first of this year’s 33 trees.

GLASS: Clear, brown, and green glass.  
CANS: We can recycle all types of metal.
BATTERIES: Household batteries.
CARDBOARD  
PAPER: We also recycle magazines, paperback books, notebooks, and general office paper.
