There were sticks… …and there were stones… The Cave- Wall Journal …and they helped make fire, around which stories were told… …and from those same sticks and stones arose Stickman to help tell those stories and write them on the walls of caves.

Draw a circle about the size of a quarter Add a little neck ¾’s shoulder rule Create the spine, giving you a female symbol PPP rule (Perfectly Parallel Pelvis) Two jointed arms (don’t fear lines that cross) Two jointed legs (not too angular) Hands and feet? Optional! Add a facial expression (see handout for help) Hang on! One last step!

One last step… Add an interesting sentence underneath the drawing, which gives your character a name; three words in the sentence must rhyme with each other. Share your Mr. Stick creation with two other people. Don’t explain it or apologize for it; just show it and let them enjoy your sentence.

Stick Animals Decide which animal you think you drew the best as a “stick animal.” Write a haiku underneath that animal that uses two awesome action verbs and one amazing adjective. Share your drawing and poem with two people on the other side of the room.

Completely surround your two drawings with wonderful adjectives that would describe the creatures, if they were more than just fantasy.
