assault – (noun) the sudden expectation of a violent attack. Her husband had arrested him for assault in 2009. allegation – (noun) a statement about a crime which the police believes and then tries to prove. Pistorius denied the allegation, and the charge was dropped. resuscitation – (noun) The act of bringing someone back to consciousness or life. He reportedly gave her mouth to mouth resusitation. tourniquet – (noun) any device for stopping bleeding by compressing a blood vessel such as a bandage tightened by twisting. Someone attempted to tie a tourniquet around her arm to stop the bleeding. conceding – (verb) to admit something as true or correct. Detective is conceding the case point by point to a better-prepared defense. ballistics – (noun) The scientific study of the characteristics of projectiles, such as bullets or missiles, and the way they move in flight. This whole case is going to turn on ballistics and cell-phone evidence. contradicted – (verb) to state the opposite viewpoint or opinion. Oscar’s version of events could also be contradicted by what went out on text messages or on telephone conversations.
