I Corinthians 5:9-13 Immoral persons Idolaters and infidels Drunkards and swindlers Adulterers, homosexuals & fornicators

5. How ALL Godless Friends Act
They curse on our Facebook page They offer to take us out carousing They reveal belief in false doctrines They defend unrighteous ideals They demonstrate immoral conduct

6. Paul’s Example
Paul walked among many idols in Athens He was provoked to a response How did he present himself?

7. What We DON’T Need To Do:
Explode – act with clear anger or offense Paul was probably offended However, he called them “religious” Example: Jesus in Mark 3:1-5

8. What We DON’T Need To Do:
Panic – fear what others will think Paul did not worry about brethren He presumed they would understand Example – Jesus in Matthew 9:9-13

9. What We DON’T Need To Do:
Ignore it – pretend it did not happen Paul preached boldly Paul accepted the offer to speak Example – Jesus in John 4:7-18

10. What We NEED To Do:
Disown it – make it clear we disagree Paul told them (kindly) it was wrong There was no confusion in his belief Jesus in Matthew 22:23-33

Use it – make a teaching moment Paul used the Unknown God as a stage Paul used many opportunities to teach Jesus in Mark 11:15-17
