A Shrinking World? Globalisaton has shortened distances for goods, people, transport and connections around the world. It now takes a quarter of the time to travel ten times the distance it would have taken in the 1800s. (1 day to Australia from the UK, vs 5 days to mainland Europe) What might contribute to a shrinking world? How might the world have shrunk during the last 1000 years?
