Key plank of the Mayor’s election campaign – 4 points in his 9 point plan:
Creating 200,000 direct jobs over the next four years.
Restoring 300 acres of green space and planting 20,000 street trees.
Investing £221 million to transform local high streets, supporting small businesses.
Securing a better deal for London from No 10.

Creation of 200,000 direct jobs as a result of City Hall programmes, including:
Major transport & infrastructure – TfL and Crossrail [32,000]
Housing schemes [104,000]
Focus on part-time jobs [20,000]
FDI [14,000] and Olympic legacy [10,000]
Action on Apprenticeships – 250,000 by 2016
A £25m employment programme to extend opportunities

Remit:
- to provide strategic investment to support private sector growth and employment;
- Promote enterprise and innovation and the acquisition of skills for sustained employment in London;
- Protect and enhance London’s competitiveness.

Work together, work smarter. Innovation, collaboration and alignment to increase impact.
Maximise our combined purchasing power via local procurement and use of “social clauses”
Develop a shared “London voice” to lever real change to the design and delivery of public services in London.
Perhaps setting a big challenge for LAs and partners to do deals, work together, stop complaining and sort things out – cos govt won’t come to the rescue!”
