1 Unit 3 Vocabulary Quest for Perfection

2 Utopia Definition: An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. Examples: Peaceful society Equality for all people

3 Dystopia Definition: An imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror. Examples: Place where people are in poverty, or in a state of war. Society in Hunger Games or Divergent

4 Cope To deal effectively with a difficult situation
Example: He coped with his grandmother passing away as best as he could.

5 Perfection Definition: the condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects. Example: The food was heavenly, the duck crisped to perfection in a light, tangy sauce.

6 Tamper Interfering or meddling with something in order to cause damage. Example: Fire crews attended to find that an external gas pipe had been deliberately tampered with and escaping gas set alight.

7 Attainable Definition: Within reach, able to achieve.
Example: The goal of making straight As is attainable if you work hard in class.

8 Strive Definition: To make great efforts to achieve a goal.
Example: Anna strives to meet her goal of perfect attendance by going to school everyday.

9 Inevitable Definition: A situation that is unavoidable
Example: It is inevitable that mistakes will sometimes happen.

10 Yields Definition: To produce or provide.
Example: Working hard yields positive results.
