4 Key background facts 100 acre site, 50 acres of water
Originally the parkland of Buckland Court, then a silica sand quarry from 1959 to 1990 When quarrying finished, most of the site was restored and landscaped but the processing plant continued to operate until 2015 After sand processing was completed and stockpiled sand sold, the pumps were disconnected and water levels allowed to rise

6 Proposed activities and changes made
Objective is to retain the tranquil, unspoilt atmosphere and natural feel of the site. Nature is the over-arching theme As originally envisaged: walking, bird watching, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, outdoor activities, day time events. Greater emphasis is being placed on the latter two items No longer envisaged: evening events, outdoor amplified sound Never envisaged: overnight camping/overnight stays, dinghy sailing, high wires, fireworks, cycling (other than e.g. road cyclists visiting the café) Changes to buildings: outdoor activity centre reoriented to northern edge of meadow; enlarged briefing room can be used for daytime events and for use by the community
