Bell Work Friday, August 17
Pick up the picture handout at the door. Take out your Vocabulary Flashcards and put them on the left hand corner of your desk (by the dot). Put your first and last name on the top card. Make sure you have labeled the def., syn., ant., & sen. Also, take out your vocab worksheet or definitions list. Take out your calendar and/or agenda to write down the homework for the next few days.

Read your book for your book report. Bring the book with you on Monday and Tuesday to read after the Benchmark. Study Vocabulary Unit 1. Test is next Friday. Over the weekend, read the CommonLit article “The Elements of Success” Monday night read the CommonLit article “The New Survivors” Tuesday night read the CommonLit article “Life of Frederick Douglass”

Vocabulary Practice Click on the link for Unit 1 Memrise. Go to “Sign up” and “Log in with Google.” You will only need to do that once. When it asks you what language you want to learn, just X out of that Tab. Go back to my website link and choose the link and it will take you directly there. The vocabulary words for Regular English are split up into two sections so you can concentrate on the first ten words and then when you have those down, you can move on to the next Memrise practice for Unit 1. When you have earned 1,000 points, you may move on to practicing with the Quizlet Quizzes.

Make sure you have submitted the responses to “Want to Get into College?” If you have had trouble getting in to the program, it is probably because you used the wrong gmail to register. You must always use your Example: You can re-register and work on that first. Next, work on reading “Nice Kids Finish First” answering the Guiding Questions and Assessment Questions. We will do the discussion questions in class later.
