2. What is ATLAS
ATLAS is an Italian research project aimed to develop innovative services for deaf people offering them new access opportunity to broadcast communications.
The ATLAS system provides automatic translations from Italian into Italian Sign Language (LIS), displayed through a 3D virtual interpreter.

represents the mother tongue for deaf people
LIS is language, characterized by a specific Grammar, Morphology, Syntax and Lexicon
