Lessons from Isaiah Strength Regained
“A godly patience, then, is the grand secret of spiritual might.” T. C. Finlayson “We can make no provision of grace for the future; we are called to depend upon God day by day.” – J. Hocart January 7, 2018

Isaiah 40:9 Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!”

Isaiah 40 – Behold Your God
Vs. 10 – God comes with might and rules Vs. 11 – God is our Shepherd who gently leads us Vs. 12 – God is the Creator and knows all Vs – Who is able to counsel God? Vs – All the nations, even the greatest ones are simply a drop in the bucket, mere dust and counted as less than nothing compared to God. Vs – What idol can even compare to our God? Vs – What earthly ruler is there that comes close? Vs – The heavens declare the power and majesty of God. He created them all.

Isaiah 40:27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”?

Isaiah 40:27 (NLT) O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength.

W. Howells (1885) Who can measure the unfailing strength which inspires the Christian when he feels that he is safe in the threefold grasp of the Triune God?

Isaiah 40:30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Albert Barnes – ( ) Here it properly refers to those who were suffering a long and grievous captivity in Babylon, and who had no prospect of deliverance but in Him. The phrase is applicable also to all who feel that they are weak, feeble, guilty, and helpless, and who, in view of this, put their trust in Yahweh.

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

For Our Consideration When tough times hit, what do you dwell upon?
Has God ever given you grace, strength, or the ability to go on before? Can/will He do so now? What does the word, “wait” mean to you in your current situation? What does being renewed mean to you? How do you get there?

Prayer Focus Thank You Father for Your great love for us.
Thank You for pouring out Your grace upon us. Thank You for Your Word to enlighten and renew our minds. Thank You for not growing weary or fainting and for helping us as well!
