Aloha! Welcome to Mrs. Blount’s ridiculously impressive, highly engaging class!!
(It is seriously the most amazing class ever. I might be a little biased, though.)
2
Right now this is probably you:
3
But you should REALLY be like…
(But don’t actually try this in the classroom. Or at home. Be like this on the INSIDE to avoid traumatic injuries. I just am emphasizing how seriously fantastic this school year is going to be, okay?!
4
The way to be with Mrs. B We are a unified team. We will treat each other like family.

Classroom Expectations
Be polite and treat others the way you want to be treated. Work together collaboratively. Understand that mistakes are the way we learn. As long as you try your best, don’t get discouraged. Raise your hand if you need to get up to use the bathroom/get water/sharpen your pencil. If you are doing group work, and I am working with others, it is okay to let your partners know where you are going instead of waiting for me to let you go. Make sure there isn’t anyone else out of the room. Please use time wisely while taking care of these needs. Use PAWS & volume levels appropriately.

Homework Expectations
YES…you WILL have homework every week in 5th grade. Wait…I take that back. Not this week. This week we are just getting to know each other. Starting NEXT week you will have homework EVERY week. You will get a sheet of Math homework on Mondays to be completed by Friday. ALL HOMEWORK IS DUE BACK ON FRIDAY MORNING. If you do not bring homework finished on Fridays, you will receive detention! If there is a problem you are unsure about, show me that you have tried your hardest on it before turning in a blank problem. Let me know throughout the week if there is one you are struggling with. Reading at home is expected. I want you guys to devour books this year. Make sure you are reading something you LOVE and want to stick with.

Agendas are LIT! Your agenda is essential, or important, for your success in 5th grade! It is a communication tool I use with your parents. We fill out our weekly agenda on Monday mornings during Morning w/ a Purpose. If you are having a behavior issue, I will give you 2 warnings before writing in your agenda. If you receive an agenda note from me, you must get it signed THAT night by a parent or guardian. You MUST get at least two parent signatures a week in your agenda. That way, your guardians know what we are up to in class. Your parents can also send me questions about homework/class happenings in the agenda. Just let me know that they wrote a note that I need to see the next morning during Morning with a Purpose. On Fridays, you get a sticker for each parent signature you got during the week. You can get up to 4 stickers (that shows me your parents signed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday night). If you do NOT have at least 2 signatures a week, you will get one warning. If it happens a second time you get…detention (DON DON DOOOON!)
12
Extra Recess Fridays You have the opportunity to earn recess everyday!
On Fridays we will have extended recess. How do you earn this extra recess time, you ask? Look below: @ least two signatures in the agenda for the week No more than 2 behavior notes in your agenda (3 or more earns you detention) Homework/classwork is complete from the week (if it isn’t, you will be in study hall)

BRAIN BREAK! What was your FAVORITE movie you saw this summer?

Sticker Charts If I catch you trying your hardest, you just MIGHT earn yourself a sticker! Stickers should be added to your sticker charts, and once your chart is FULL, you can Head to the TREASURE BOX! Ooooooh….ahhhhh!! You can ALSO get a sticker for each time your parents sign your agendas! Pretty neat huh? NOW it’s time for me to pass out the agendas/sticker charts. Hey! Mrs. Blount! Don’t forget to have them fill out their information on the front page of their agendas!! Make sure they put their names on their sticker charts!!
